AmberGateTM is led by Robert J Baugh, who brings over 20 years international experience as a TMT lawyer, the last 13 as General Counsel and Director of VC-backed international growth technology companies where data protection, information security, and managing the risk of confidential and sensitive data processing, was central to the business.
Robert is highly skilled in interpreting the regulatory environment into commercial, actionable risk-managed-based compliance programs. Robert founded the AmberGate consultancy to work with clients in the core risk (and reward) arenas of data protection and information security.
Prior to AmberGate, Robert was Director and General Counsel of the Drayson Technologies group of companies, carrying out two fundings for over £23m, negotiating a ground-breaking deal in digital health with the University of Oxford and the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and managing the group’s data protection, health regulatory and intellectual property activities. Before that Robert was at LoopUp (LSE AIM: LOOP.L) as EVP and General Counsel. The 7th to join LoopUp, Robert was a key member of the senior team that grew the LoopUp group to over 100 staff in 4 countries and a listing on AIM. While at LoopUp, Robert also led the group’s successful global ISO 27001 certification. Robert read Engineering, Economics & Management at the University of Oxford before working as an IP, IT, data protection and e-commerce lawyer in major City firms in London, Hong Kong and Melbourne.
